Virgo (astrology), the sixth sign of the zodiac, symbolized by a virgin. People whose birthdays fall from August 23 to September 22 are said to be born under the sun sign of Virgo. Virgo, an earth sign, is ruled by the planet Mercury, named after the ancient Roman messenger god.

Astrologers believe that Virgoans are practical, no-nonsense people. They like to talk and are good communicators, but prefer to put their words to practical use. Thus they are not very interested in idle conversation, and they can be shy. The typical Virgoan also has a tendency to be critical. According to astrologers, Virgoans often have a great concern for health and hygiene. They also like to be well-groomed and keep their surroundings very tidy.

Astrologers consider Virgoans to be detail-oriented, analytical, intelligent, and hard-working. They handle complex tasks with seeming effortlessness because they are flexible and good organizers. They are said to be more concerned with doing their jobs well than with personal acclaim, and as a result tend to be humble. They also can be perfectionists and worry when projects or situations do not meet their high expectations. Professions traditionally associated with the sign Virgo include nursing; jobs in the service industries; health and nutrition; secretarial or office administration; teaching; and editing.

Aries

This combination may be a bit difficult. The virgo is too fault finding and precise for the aries personality. When the virgo will be logical and analytical, the aries will become impatient. However, there are a lot of relationships between these two that work very well, but it is always a constant challenge. To work, the aries must allow the virgo space. If this can be acheived the two will make for a dynamic relationship.

Taurus

These two make a good match. But for the relationship to work, the taurus should avoid the critisisms of the virgo since he does not like to be critiqued. Since both signs are earth signs, there will be much common ground for these partners. However, since the virgo is normally in control of its emotional outputs, this will cause some problems because, on the other hand, the taurus thrives on deep emotion.

Gemini

This is not a good combination because it may prove to be to much over the long run.  The gemini desire for change would be to much for the realistic nature of the virgo. They both have the desire for good clothes, cleanliness and mutual desire for friends and associates who are engaged in intellectual matters. But for a relationship to work, the virgo will have to put up with the seemingly hair brained schemes of the gemini, and the gemini will need to deal with the virgo critical eye.

Cancer

These two would make an odd combination. The demands of the virgo may be a bit to much for the cancer desire for peace and quiet. On the other hand, the fully affectionate cancer will not be completely satisfied by the virgo direct approach to the practical matters at hand. The cancer is sentimental , reticent, and even shy person, and this can be very frustrating to the virgo temperament. For the relationship to have a change to work, the virgo will need to be a little more demonstrative and affectionate with the cancer.

Leo

The two have a good chance of making a good combination. For this to happen, the leo will need to overlook the virgo tendency to be critical, while the virgo will need to take pride in the accomplishments of the leo. The leo will need to respect the clever and alert mentality of the virgo. If the virgo permits the leo to hog the limelight and refrain from being too critical of the leo, they should have no real barriers to a happy and successful relationship.

Virgo

These two will make for an odd combination. Both have a tendency to end up with a battle with both opponents evenly matched. Each of them will over exaggerate the errors of the other. In the best of casaes, they would reprensent a common place relationship, with the possibility of the partners to talk each other to distraction.

Libra

This is a combination that would have a hard time to become a match. The one thing the libra can not take is criticism, and of course the virgo is a champion in that department. The virgo is very particular to details while, on the other hand, the libra is easygoing and detest details (he likes the big picture). This conflict of interest will cause a storm soon after the relationship is formed.

Scorpio

The two will probably make a good match. The virgo mind is very fascinated with the mysterious and intriguing nature of the scorpio. Out of all the signs, the scorpio is the most likely to be the one to curb the tendency to sulk of the virgo. The  virgo respects the scorpio ability to analyze all situations and thereby sidesteps controversial issues before they they become grounds for an argument. However, for the relationship to work, the virgo will need to keep from hurting the pride of the scorpio.

Sagittarius

The two may prove to be a hard match. The sagittarius love of freedom and change may prove too much for the meticulous nature of the virgo. The sagittarius could easily fall in love with the virgo. The virgo neat and clean ways intrigues the sagittarius, but once in the relationship, the sagittarius may find that he got more than what he bargained for. The differences here are like day and night, so there is no doudt that this relationship is heading for troubles in the long run.

Capricorn

With these two signs there is a chance for a good combination. They are both very exacting, so it stops many areas of disagreement. They both take great pride in appearance and surroundings. They will be able to find a friend in each other when the outside world is to much to cope with. Therefore, this relationship will have no problem finding mutual grounds.

Aquarius

The two may represent a hard match. The aquarius may hold too many surprises for the conservative nature of the virgo. If there is a marked difference between the two, the chances for a happy and enduring relationship are almost nill. But if both happen to do the same sort of work, chances for a happy relationship will be greatly increased. This relationship is no middle one, it is either very good or very bad.

Pisces

These two may just make a good match because the pisces is the very opposite of the virgo. Opposites often find compatibility, even though they are opposing signs. This may be that contrast makes for interest, and in the virgo and pisces that contrast is very marked. For the relation to work, it will take a great deal of patience and understanding on the part of the virgo to cope with the sentimental nature of the pisces.
